The Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences of the University of La Rochelle has over 80 teaching staff, 22 administrative and technical staff and almost 1650 students.
It is comprised of three Departments - Social Sciences, Applied Languages and French, has a number of vocational streams, a French as a Second Language Centre, the University Institute of the Asia Pacific and two research centres.
Besides its various vocational streams, it prepares students for the national competitive exams for teachers, in collaboration with the IUFM (Training Institute for Primary Teachers).
The ULR is very active in ensuring the qualify of its teaching, and the professional future of its students has been a major preoccupation since this faculty was founded in 1993.
The premises of the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences are architect-designed state-of-the-art and the technical equipment is of high quality (computer rooms, language laboratories...).
