The XVIIIth International Symposium on Oceanography of the Bay of Biscay (ISOBAY 18) will be held in La Rochelle from June 5 to June 7, 2024. It will take place at the Aquarium of La Rochelle, located in the city centre of La Rochelle.

The main goal of this biennal symposium is to present scientific most updated works related to the Bay of Biscay, from the coastal zone to the open sea, and its transitional waters between land and sea (estuaries, lagoons, deltas and rias) where human activities are intense.

In this context, a wide range of research topics are undertaken and ISOBAY can therefore be considered as a multidisciplinary symposium. Scientific works may be integrated into one or more of the symposium's themes: Physical oceanography; Climate-ocean relations ; Geology, erosion, transport and sedimentation; Biogeochemical cycles; Biodiversity, structure and functioning of ecosystems; Fisheries and aquaculture Anthropogenic effects, quality assessment and ecosystem management; Blue Technologies and marine resources.

This symposium aims at favouring discussions between scientists from different disciplines and promoting significant contribution towards an integrated knowledge of the Bay of Biscay. ISOBAY 18 is an excellent opportunity to meet and network with many other researchers interested in the study of the Bay of Biscay, both for early career researchers, as well as for established scientists.

Journal of Marine Systems has accepted to host a special issue with papers (oral/poster) presented at ISOBAY 18.

You will be able to also enjoy the beautiful and rebellious La Rochelle, the Charente coast and the islands (Aix, Ré and Oléron).
