Location and Venue

Scientific and cultural meetings at Peyresq are achieved through the active collaboration of the non-profit organization Nicolas-Claude Fabri de Peiresc asbl. Through its European and international radiance, this organization carries on its ongoing efforts to foster scientific, artistic and cultural activity in Brussels, the Provencal village of Peyresq, and in the Verdon-Vaïre valleys.

Peyresq is a mountain village 1528 metres above sea-level with a mediterranean climate, hot during the day, but chilly when the sun goes down. So pack a sweater and some comfortable shoes, as well as any medicines you might need. The charm of Peyresq is that it has no petrol pumps, shops, pharmacies, newsagents, banks or motorways!

How to get to Peyresq

By car:

Situated in the department of Alpes-de-Haute-Provence, Peyresq lies close to the small towns of Annot and Saint-André-des-Alpes, 100 km from Nice and 75 km from Digne.

By plane:

Nice international airport (https://www.nice.aeroport.fr/en)

By train:

Coming from Nice or Digne.

The picturesque "Train des Pignes" runs between Nice and Digne several times a day.

Departure is from the station Gare des Chemins de fer de Provence (4bis Rue Alfred Binet), a 14-minute walk from Nice-Ville station. Train-times:

You can, however, ask to be dropped off at the Peyresq halt, from where you can reach the village on foot (only for well trained and equipped people: two and a half hour walk, 510 metre gradient!)
